![]() ![]() The decision is up to you, but at the end of the day, it is best to Transcend as soon as you reach 300. Each of them has their own benefit to the game, and it depends on your playstyle which one you should buy first. With Ancient Souls you can buy one of the 5 Ancients: Xyliqil, Chor'gorloth, Phandoryss, Ponyboy, or Borb. With Transcendent Power, the amount of Hero Souls you get will double, triple, or more as your level increases. The big payoff of Transcendence is Transcendent Power, which boosts the amount of Hero Souls you get from Primal Bosses starting at zone 105. That does not mean you should ignore Transcendence, though. You receive five Ancient Souls for 10x the Hero Souls, meaning that for 100 Hero Souls, you will receive five Ancient Souls. You do not get a bang for your buck when you trade your Hero Souls for Ancient Souls. The biggest payoff of Transcendence is the new currency of Ancient Souls, which can be used to buy Outsiders. This feature is available at level 300 after beating Woodchip, the Rodent. You have to give up your gold, hero level, zone progress, Ancients, Hero Souls, Relics, and Gilds however, you receive Ancient Souls and transcendent power. It does not replace the current ascension system. Like most MMOs, it's a game practically without end.Transcendence is also called "super-ascension," and it is essentially a prestige system for Clicker Heroes. When you buy all the heroes and reach a level so hard, you can't get past it, you can "Ascend" and start over. By doing so you collect "Hero Souls" that allow you to summon Ancients that have special bonuses like increased damage while idle, or a higher percentage of gold dropped. Ascend multiple times and you'll get more gold and more damage, and be able to progress further and further into the unknown. ![]() I spoke briefly with developer Playsaurus who admits that their idea for the game evolved as players become surprisingly addicted to it. "We originally developed the game as a fun little experiment intended to be played for a couple of days. When we released it, players liked the game asked for more content. The game quickly expanded into what it is today, and we think there is a lot more that we can add to the game." We began to add to the game considerably based on player feedback and suggestions. Right now, Clicker Heroes currently has no microtransactions and not so much as a banner ad on its webpage. Its only source of revenue appears to be from a small store which sells branded merchandise based on heroes and monsters from the game.Īnd yet, it's very clear to me that Clicker Heroes has what it takes to become the next big thing in mobile, and anyone who plays the game for more than a few minutes can understand how it could easily make the jump to smartphones and tablets. The game encourages both active and passive play. You can sit there all day long clicking away (or in mobile's case, tapping), or you can simply let your DPS auto-kill monsters, which allows you to check in periodically to spend your pile of gold on upgrades. It's a perfect blend of active participation that begs for constant tapping (Flappy Bird) while also making players wait for upgrades as they save up resources (Clash of Clans). And it's hopelessly addictive, perhaps the most notable hallmark of any top mobile game. The only problem is that a complete lack of time gates (seemingly a good thing) means it would be an enormous battery life-killer in its current form for the obsessed. And they would indeed have to figure out a way to monetize it, whether that would be introducing microtransactions or in-game ads. Playsaurus says they are indeed working on iOS and Android versions of the game which will be out sometime next year. ![]()
